Je Ngor's Kitchen Bangkok Restaurants
Je Ngor's Kitchen Restaurants is well known for a big fan of Chinese food or you've just been in Bangkok. If you have an appointment with anyone at Je Ngor, be sure to emphasize on the location because there are 5 branches. Je Ngor is a Chinese name, Je(big sister) Ngor(owner's nick name) is located on 11th floor of the YWCA Building at Sathon Road.
On arrival Je Ngor and Khun Linda, her daughter and another owner of the restaurant, amiably welcomes us by themselves. The setting of the restaurant was simple and clean. Being on the 11th floor in a centrally location as in Sathon the bird eye view of Bangkok is an advantage. For those who like privacy, the restaurant provides VIP rooms for large and small groups.
The main attraction of the restaurant is the Food. Well, I've got to say my tongue was spoiled so much here. The menu offers a wide variety of selections, Mainly Chinese, seafood and Thai, some menus are Thai dishes influence by Chinese cooking (Somtam Kung Maenam and "Somtam Pu Kai Dong"). Since main food here is seafood, so the price of each dish mostly depends on weight.
The service here is quite good. The waiter and waitress can speak English and some can speak Chinese. Also there's no service charge for alcohol. You can take wine or other alcohol to the restaurant.
There's no need to say how successful Je Ngor's kitchen is. You can see it from that Je Ngor has got five branches since she started the first branch at Chareon Krung four years ago.
Sen Mi Phakkrachet, there signature dish. It's Noodle stir fried with "Phakkrachet" (a kind of Thai vegetable which grows in water). This dish looks tasteless, but, well, its taste is not like its look, very delicious with sour taste. Lukchin Kung Sarai (Deep fried seaweed shrimp balls), the new release, 30 Baht per piece (180-300 per dish). The exterior of seaweed shrimp balls is crisp, but the interior soft, served with Chinese plum sauce.
Pla Kraphong Preow Wan (stir fried seabass with sweet & soul sauce), 200 Baht per dish. This dish is suitable for those who don't like spicy food and for kids. My most favorite, Pu Phat Chao Sua (Stir fried crab with special garlic & pepper), 100 Baht per 100 grams. Crab cooked is fresh, so it tastes really very great, especially eaten with spicy sauce (mixture of vinegar garlic, chilli Thai style) of the restaurant.
Somtam Pu Kai Dong (fresh papaya and preserved crab with spicy sauce), 200 Baht per dish. Somtam is a Thai style Salad. Pu Kai Dong is raw preserved crab, and its meat tastes like jelly. This dish is not too spicy so everybody can eat it. However, However, you can order what taste you want them to be. Somtam Kung Maenam (fresh papaya and large river prawn with spicy sauce). This dish is like the former dish but it's large river prawn instead of raw preserved crab.
Pla Bu Nueng Si-ew (Steamed Gody(mudfish) with Soya sauce), 80 Baht per 100 grams. Fresh fish makes this dish, Chinese food, so tasty. the view seen from the window of the restaurant
Shaddock, Thai fruit, which is free served after main dishes
